The road to a finished production is not littered with a lot of materials costs but it can be lengthy from a time standpoint. Most of that time will usually be spent at the editing workstation taking the raw footage or data and turning it into a usable and interesting product. And until the material is “captured” to the hard disk, the editor is working in real time. In short, if you’ve got an hour’s worth of video it takes an hour to get it into the computer to be worked on. Today’s Non-Linear Editors (NLE) are a dream because an editor can jump to and from any point in the footage with the click of a mouse button or a few key-strokes. You can try an effect or a cut or a transition and, if you don’t like it, simply undo it. It’s much faster than the old A/B-roll method so here we save time. And time is money. Narration is another real-time part of the project but, again, once it’s on the hard drive it can be digitally edited. Ten minutes of narration might take thirty minutes to get just right. Contact us here for a quote on separate voice talent only. And then there is rendering. That’s what happens when you add an effect or a process to the video. It has to be applied to each frame and, depending on what is being done together with the speed of the workstation, it can be time consuming. That’s why we have one computer set aside for rendering. Finally, disc-to-disc duplication is done in quantities up to 100. For larger runs it’s more cost-effective to have a commercial replication house do the job and we’ll be glad to recommend one. If you already have the disc we simply make the requested number of copies from the original at $15 each. If the original material is on tape, then it must first be captured and the hourly studio rate applies. However, once the first disc is produced, all subsequent copies are made from that at duplication speeds of more than 4x and the $15 rate applies. Contact us by phone or e-mail to discuss your particular project.

8mm FILM to DVD
Converting 8mm movie film to DVD is a four-step process:
· Project through a diplexer and record on digital video tape. · Capture the tape to a file on the PC hard drive followed by some light editing. · Write the video timeline out to a file for DVD authoring. Add titles, menu buttons & chapter points and burn the DVD. · Make copies and direct surface print and coat the labels.
Because of the many variables associated with these conversions such as the number of reels, small versus spliced large reels, breakage and condition of film, an estimate will be provided based on an hourly rate. The final DVD can hold approximately 4 hours of film.
